He then pursued his childhood dream of becoming a surgeon and graduated as one of the top students in his class at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine – an entering class that was rated #1 for student selectivity in the U.S. News and World Report rankings of medical schools. The UCSF School of Medicine is regularly ranked as one of the top 5 medical schools in America and is known for excellence in patient care, research, and surgical specialties. He achieved membership in the exclusive Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society, an honor bestowed on only the top 10% of medical students. Trusted Guidance, Remarkable Results: Aesthetics Done Right
I am so grateful to Dr. Sayed and his team. A huge thank you to Dr. Sayed for helping me regain my health. He treated me with care, was a great listener, and the results were better than I expected. I feel and look better than I did with implants. His team, Tammy (no longer there but was so helpful), Salma, & Paola made each step of the way so much easier. Without all of their support, I'm not sure I would have had such great results mentally and physically. If you need to explant, Dr. Sayed comes highly recommended.

Q & A with Dr. Tim Sayed
I was the valedictorian of the largest high school class in Texas and pursued an engineering degree (focus on medical device design) at Berkeley. I attended the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine, the top-ranked medical school on the West Coast. I then trained in general surgery at the legendary Mass General Hospital (the oldest and largest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School), before returning to UCSF for my plastic surgery fellowship. About 10 years into my career as a practicing surgeon, I obtained an Executive MBA from the top-ranked Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. I am double board-certified in general surgery and plastic surgery (and recertified in both after 10 years of practice).
I specialize primarily in breast implant removal/en bloc capsulectomy surgery, as well as other cosmetic breast surgery, tummy tucks, liposuction, and fat grafting. I round out my diverse practice with facelift, rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, and male plastic surgery procedures.
Our philosophy and motto is “Aesthetics Done Right.” This means carefully and skillfully performed surgery, honest and forthright treatment of patients with integrity and candor, and boutique personalized surgical care in a private and nurturing setting, which result in a high degree of word-of-mouth evangelism of our practice.
I was always interested in the combination of science and art, and the stimulation of left-brain analytic and problem-solving skills as well as right-brain creativity and design work. I am a musician and enjoy self-directed learning across many disciplines, and plastic surgery offers an amazing diversity of procedures, patients, and technologies to engage all aspects of my mind. It is also very rewarding to be working on quality-of-life improvement for patients— plastic surgeons are among the few doctors patients often look forward to seeing!
The privilege of creating an impact with quickly noticeable results makes plastic surgery very compelling as a career. You have an amazing opportunity as a plastic surgeon to impact the lives of people from all walks of life.
I focused first on scholastic success and sought to be a leader among my peers throughout my education and training. I obtained a diverse base of surgical knowledge through training in some of the most rigorous surgical programs. During my training and throughout my career, I have sought to learn from innovators and key opinion leaders among my colleagues. I am proud that I have learned surgery from doctors who are known for inventing microsurgery, or revolutionizing rhinoplasty, or developing complex flap reconstruction techniques used by surgeons everywhere.
I love spending time with my wife and two beautiful children, who are already showing a love of music, reading, and learning. I enjoy skiing, basketball, tennis and golf, world travel, and reading.
I was allowed to participate in complex craniofacial reconstructions on children and adults with deformities while still a college student. I was amazed at how a plastic surgeon’s skills can make a dramatic change in someone’s life journey in a few short hours. I also saw that most plastic surgeons were happy in their work-life balance, when compared with some peers in other specialties.
The process of surgical residency training is rigorous, time-consuming, and almost obsessive— you have to be very focused and have an intent desire to excel in surgery, and it can take precious time away from family time. I am always amazed at friends and colleagues who were able to raise families while training in surgery. As an older parent, I have developed a healthy perspective on the balance of diving deep into work and career while carving out personal time to recharge and energize.
Compassionate, inquisitive, driven.
I trained under some of the most respected leaders in plastic surgery, including Dr. Stephen Mathes (program director at UCSF, known for characterizing flap reconstruction used in cancer, trauma and soft tissue restoration), Dr. James May (Mass General plastic surgery chairman, cosmetic facelift expert who was also instrumental in development of hand surgery techniques), Dr. Ronald Gruber (internationally known rhinoplasty expert, with whom I did clinical research and published papers), and Dr. Harry Buncke (the godfather of microsurgery). Colleagues like Dr. Ali Mosharrafa (top cosmetic breast and facial surgeon), Alan Pillersdorf (senior partner in my first practice in Florida, known as a leader of organized surgery) and others have shaped my career.
Plastic surgery made me appreciate the diversity of human experience, appearance, emotion, physiology, and anatomy in ways only touched on during my medical school education. It made me fully appreciate the gifts of using one’s hands, eyes, mind, and heart to create positive change in the lives of our patients. It is a privilege and very humbling.
I pride myself on educating my patients thoroughly to help them make informed choices that are right for their goals. I go the extra mile in providing accessibility for aftercare and developing a personal relationship with patients. We like to say our practice married technology and technique to achieve meaningful results for our patients: Aesthetics Done Right!
