Face

Dr. Sayed is a recognized expert in facial rejuvenation. Patients travel from up and down Southern California to see Dr. Sayed at his La Jolla and Newport Beach offices, consulting with him on facelifts, rhinoplasty, eyelid lifts (blepharoplasty), browlifts, and especially Botox® and fillers. Dr. Sayed prides himself on creating a naturally harmonious change on the face, recognizing that sometimes, “less is more.” One of the things we are most concerned with is helping patients avoid an overdone and unnatural appearance, which is entirely too common these days as we see patients going to less qualified practitioners for cosmetic facial enhancement. Dr. Sayed’s patients from Florida to California commonly remark at how proportional and natural their results look, which keeps them coming back for additional treatments as they know they can trust his keen eye for symmetry and balance, and his steady hands. Dr. Sayed employs a variety of techniques to help make facial enhancement a comfortable process, including using products to minimize pain and bruising, and using advanced recovery techniques to help reduce swelling and accelerate the return to normal social exposure. Whether you are a celebrity, professional, executive, homemaker, competitive athlete, or other busy individual, let’s keep that down time to a minimum!

In these pages you can learn more about Dr. Sayed’s approach to facial cosmetics: Aesthetics Done Right™.

Facelift

Many patients are candidates for surgical facial enhancement using the latest facelifting techniques. Dr. Sayed can review your cosmetic goals, use state-of-the-art simulation and drawing tools to give you a sense of what facelifting can offer, and discuss a variety of options from minimally invasive facelift techniques to full SMAS and MACS lift approaches. For the most committed patients, Dr. Sayed can offer a comprehensive rejuvenation that combines facelifting with correction of brow drooping, eyelid lifting (blepharoplasty), facial fat transfer to restore youthful volume and contours, and resurfacing to reestablish a smoother skin texture.

Botox® And Fillers

Not ready for surgery? Want a little enhancement for the holidays or special events? Interested in warding off some of the effects of aging with Dr. Sayed’s facial cosmetic maintenance plan? We have a variety of options available for patients seeking nonsurgical, minimally invasive facial rejuvenation with Botox®, Dysport®, and fillers like Juvéderm®, Voluma®, Volbella®, Restylane®, Perlane®, Radiesse®, Belotero and other products.

Dr. Sayed and our team will review your areas of concern (nasolabial folds, perioral wrinkles, forehead creases, glabellar “11″ lines, tear troughs, temple hollows, cheekbones, acne scars, etc.) and develop a tailored, bespoke plan for cosmetic enhancement that is reproducible and provides lasting value, which we hope will keep you coming back! Dr. Sayed can discuss the pros and cons of various fillers and botulinum toxin products, including their typical durations of effect, active ingredients, most effective areas for use, degrees of enhancement achievable, and recommended dosing. Dr. Sayed uses FDA-approved toxins and fillers and will discuss with you where these can be used “on-label” and “off-label,” always putting your safety first.

Aesthetics Done Right™ means we don’t lie, scrimp, use imported cheap Botox®, or any of the other methods we see less scrupulous cosmetic injectors employ to get business in this competitive industry.

We can craft something for most budgets, although Dr. Sayed will counsel you on how best to achieve your goals, even if that means not treating you if he feels your goals can not be met. We won’t let you throw money away if we can recommend better treatment options for you! We also don’t want you to expect to be undertreated simply so you purchase some services from us. We want what you want: the right choices to target the best result achievable at your budget. Dr. Sayed participates in most cosmetic filler/toxin reward programs which pass on significant savings and promotions to our patients, and we offer financing through CareCredit and Alphaeon Credit to provide a variety of choices.

What we want are confident, happy patients as customers who spread the word about Dr. Sayed to their friends and family in Southern California, South Florida or other locations, and who will come back themselves for repeat treatments on a regular basis because they trust Dr. Sayed with their faces. We think that’s what you want too, and we take our commitments seriously!

Lip Enhancement

Plumper, fuller lips are the rage these days, not only with the “Selfie generation” sharing photos on social media, but with patients of all ages looking to enhance the lip pout and create a more sensual and expressive mouth. Reality stars have made aesthetic, balanced lip enhancement skills a major requirement of the best plastic surgeons, as they share the results of well done lip augmentation to the world. Dr. Sayed understands the proportions, shapes and other factors that influence how attractive lips appear and has many loyal lip augmentation patients. Whether with Juvéderm®, Restylane®, Belotero, Volbella or the patient’s own (autologous) fat, lip enhancement may be suitable for patients with thin lips, lip asymmetry, excessively unbalanced upper and lower lips, smoker’s lines and other wrinkles, scars, and other indications.

Rhinoplasty (Nose Job)

Rhinoplasty is one of the most commonly performed plastic surgery procedures in the United States, Middle East, Asia and South America. There is a particularly large interest in rhinoplasty in Southern California, and Dr. Sayed has extensive experience with rhinoplasty for patients of numerous ethnicities, including Middle Eastern, African-American, and other backgrounds. Dr. Sayed has access to excellent visualization and simulation tools to help you understand techniques, approaches, and possibilities for your result. He can also discuss nonsurgical approaches to nose enhancement (like the use of fillers like Radiesse® to correct indentations and irregularities). While rhinoplasty os a cosmetic operation not covered by insurance, patients with difficulty breathing may simultaneously benefit from correction of a deviated septum or other anatomic issue. Dr. Sayed’s interest in rhinoplasty was fostered during his plastic surgery training at UCSF, where he worked with Dr. Ronald Gruber, one of the world’s preeminent rhinoplasty specialists. Dr.Sayed even collaborated with Dr. Gruber on two research papers describing specific techniques in rhinoplasty that are in common use by plastic surgeons everywhere.

Browlift

As we age, our forehead tissues descend and lines become etched from expression. Browlifting can help restore a more youthful position to the eybrows, potentially reshape them, and open up the top 1/3 of the face to a more well rested and relaxed appearance. Browlifts can be done through a variety of techniques, including endoscopic lifting with the Endotine devices (a favorite technique of Dr. Sayed’s), lateral temporal browlifting, hairline-lowering browlifts, and full coronal lifts. At the same time as the tissues are elevated and suspended, there is an opportunity to address the muscles that lead to etched lines, although Dr. Sayed cautions against overdoing this. Browlifting can be part of a comprehensive facial rejuvenation approach that we’d be happy to discuss with you, where we combine face and browlifting, eyelid correction (blepharoplasty), fat transfer and laser resurfacing. Another common combination is brow and eyelid surgery (upper third of the face rejuvenation).

Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Lift)

Blepharoplasty is the medical term for eyelid surgery that provides cosmetic enhancement to the upper and/or lower eyelids. Alone or in combination with a comprehensive facial rejuvenation, blepharoplasty can help take years off the patient’s appearance and help reverse that “tired eye” appearance. Depending on technique, blepharoplasty can help address loose hanging skin, fat bulging, tear troughs, dark circles, hollow eye appearance, asymmetry, and other concerns. Asian patients seeking a “westernized” eyelid (there are common anatomic ethnic differences in the way the upper eyelid folds and how fat is distributed) may also be interested in a particular technique of ethnic blepharoplasty, often referred to as Asian Eyelid Surgery. Fat removal, redistribution, or even addition may be required to help balance the eyelids to a younger appearance. Dr. Sayed can also help refer you to ophthalmologists who perform correction of muscle weakness in the upper eyelids and works closely with these colleagues to ensure safe and pleasing results.

Otoplasty (Ear Pinning)

Let’s face it. Kids can be tough on each other. One of the most satisfying procedures for patient, family and Dr. Sayed is the otoplasty, or correction of prominent ears. There are other terms for this variant of ear appearance, but we don’t use them as they are unprofessional; we know that prominent ears can be a source of some self-esteem issues for young kids and even some adults. Corrective surgery to bring the ears closer to the side of the head and reduce the outward projection can significantly impact a young person’s life, if it seems important to that child/adolescent or if they are already concerned about treatment they receive from their peers. Naturally, one way to help address this is good parenting and education of all our kids and elimination of a bullying culture once and for all, especially in this era of social media and image consciousness.

Cosmetic ear pinning is available to patients of all ages although we typically recommend otoplasty be performed between ages 6 and 8, when ear cartilage has matured and the ear is near adult size but before the patient has had extensive peer exposure. Of course, there are many patients who choose not to have the surgery. President Obama famously has prominent ears as a distinctive feature, as do many celebrities and highly successful individuals. If you want it for yourself or your child, we are here to educate you and provide a highly skilled otoplasty approach. That’s the nice thing about elective cosmetic surgery: CHOICES.

Earlobe Repair And Piercing

Women (and men) have worn earrings since Ancient Egypt. As piercings, including multiple piercings in one or both ears, have become more common, so have the problems that can follow — stretched earlobes, enlarged pierceholes, and even complete tears in the earlobe that make it impossible to wear a variety of earring styles.

Not to worry! Dr. Sayed is highly experienced with corrective surgery to the ears including repair of partial and complete earlobe tears, removal of cysts and other masses from the ear, reduction of stretched earlobes, repair of modified earlobes and excess piercings, correction of earlobe asymmetry, revision of earlobes after prior facelift surgery (pixie ear deformity), and other enhancements. Patients seeking new ear piercings can also have it done under sterile surgical technique by Dr. Sayed.
