Exercising after the Brazilian Butt Lift: Do’s and Don’ts

A large, full buttocks is highly desirable, but not something you can achieve at the gym. Either you’re born with one or you’ll need cosmetic surgery to achieve those shapely curves. Brazilian butt lifts are a great way to enhance natural curves without having to turn to implants. During the procedure, fat is removed via liposuction from one part of the body and re-injected into the derriere.

While you can’t achieve a full and rounded buttocks with exercise alone, after surgery you can enhance your results by hitting the gym. Check out our guide to the do’s and don’ts of working out after a BBL.

Do: Go for Gluteal Intensive Exercises

What do squats, lunges, and HITT training all have in common? Each of these workout varieties focus heavily on building muscle mass in the buttocks. Once you’ve been given the green light to work out, try to build a workout routine that includes muscle building movements that enhance your new curves.

Don’t: Immediately Go to the Highest Weight Possible

While BBLs are designed to be less invasive than other buttock enhancement procedures, the two-step process can still be physically taxing on your body. Gradually work your way up to intensive workouts. Start with gentle walks around the neighborhood each day after surgery. As the days progress, go a little further and increase your pace to get your body back in the swing of physical exertion and to promote healthy circulation. Once you’ve been cleared for weightlifting, start off light and work your way back up to your pre-surgery gains.

Easy does it. Slowly returning to exercise prevents injuries.

Don’t: Jump Back into Fat Burning

Burning fat shrinks fall cells, and when fat is the basis for your new curves, this can spell disaster for your results. Great results from BBLs depend on being able to maintain fat cell size in the months following surgery. We recommend that patients achieve their goal-weight, or close to it, before surgery. Other counterproductive exercises include cross-fit, cycling, and other exercises where you’re sitting.

After a BBL, fat loss can mean booty loss.

Do: Eat!

If you have a hard time staying away from the elliptical or fitness bootcamp, not to worry – a balanced diet with plenty of calories can help offset any potential fat burning you may be inadvertently doing. As you get back into a workout routine, we recommend working with a personal trainer to create a meal plan strategy that keeps you healthy without compromising your results.

Get Ready to Say I Do with These Treatments and Procedures

bridal pre-wedding cosmetic procedures

Now that spring is here; wedding season is just around the corner. With countless brides and grooms preparing their dream wedding, thinking about your self-care and looks can quickly fall to the wayside. Rather than waiting until the last minute, consider adding these treatments and procedures into your wedding prep plans and feel confident when you walk down the aisle.

Cosmetic Treatments

Preparing for your wedding day is a stressful experience. Late nights pulling together guests lists and the emotional toll of dealing with relatives can quickly take a toll on any one’s appearance. The last things you need to be worrying about are new wrinkles or dull-looking skin in photos on your big day. Instead, consider adding these minimally-invasive, non-surgical treatments to your pre-wedding regimen and enjoy your special day worry free.

Botox®

While Botox® is often associated with anti-aging skincare routines, this injectable can be a valuable addition for patients at any age. The treatment temporarily paralyzes muscle-caused wrinkles from deepening and helps smooth existing wrinkles and fine lines across the patient’s face. When applied as a preventive treatment against aging, Botox® can even help slow down the overall aging process, helping the patient enjoy smoother skin longer.

Fillers

Dermal fillers are another popular pre-wedding treatment, particularly for women looking to add a little more volume to their appearance before they head down the aisle. For some, this may mean adding a small amount of filler to lips to create the perfect pout, while others may choose to use dermal fillers to lift sagging cheeks and fill in hollows.

Surgical Solutions

Have more time to prepare for your big day? For many brides and grooms, an upcoming wedding day can be a huge motivator to finally shed stubborn weight and make much-needed changes to their diet and exercise habits. After working hard in the gym and reaching your goal weight, some patients may opt for surgical procedures that showcase their efforts and help them finally reach their ideal body shape.

Some of the most popular pre-wedding minimally-invasive surgical procedures fall under the category of “body sculpting” – treatments that help patients add definition to their figures and gain extra confidence in their figure. These include:

Brazilian Butt Lift:

One of the most popular procedures available, Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBLs) use fat tissue from other parts of your body and add it to your rear, adding an extra lift to sagging behinds. Less invasive than traditional butt implants, BBLs are an excellent option for enhancing curves and redistributing unwanted fat cells elsewhere on your body.

Liposuction

Another popular plastic surgery procedure, liposuction allows patients to remove stubborn fat cells permanently. As the procedure uses an extremely small cannula to remove excess fat cells, the entire treatment is minimally invasive, shrinking down recovery time for patients.

Hi-Def Liposculpture

For some, pre-wedding preparation includes adding definition and sculpting the perfect body. Where liposuction helps smooth out unwanted lumps, hi-def liposculpture uses a combination of ultrasonic vibrations and liposuction to remove fat covering muscle groups and add much-desired definition. Generally recommended for individuals who are already in excellent shape, this procedure is especially popular among men who want to highlight their hard work in the gym and look their absolute best before heading down the aisle and off on their honeymoon.

Brazilian Butt Lift Safety: How to Ensure Beautiful Results Safely

In recent years, Brazilian butt lifts have grown dramatically in their popularity. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the number of glutoplasties performed jumped 10% between 2016 to 2017, and current projections suggest the procedure will continue to grow. For patients, the opportunity to remove stubborn fat cells from one part of the body to the derriere can help them achieve two goals with only one trip to the operating room. However, a warning from the same Board suggests that this procedure carries a much higher mortality rate than other procedures.

What is the Risk Associated with Brazilian Butt Lift?

Pulmonary fat embolisms (PFEs) or fatal fat embolisms occur when the pulmonary veins are blocked due to fat particles. Usually, the result of widespread trauma such as a broken leg, these obstructions prevent blood from traveling to the heart for oxygenation and can travel through the veins to the heart, blocking the arteries. During a Brazilian butt lift, fatal fat embolisms are caused when the cannula delivering transplanted fat cells injures a vein or directly injects the adipose tissue into the vein. This can happen if a surgeon injects too deeply or accidentally nicks a vein.

Stay Safe During Your Butt Lift with These Tips

In addition to the risk of fatal fat embolism, Brazilian butt lifts also present other risks associated with surgery. Anesthesia risks, poor healing, and infection can all compromise your health and results. With these complications in mind, it’s important to be picky about who you visit for your surgery.

When choosing your Brazilian butt lift plastic surgeon, be sure to look for the following:

Board Certification

Only board-certified plastic surgeons like Dr. Sayed have undergone the extensive training required to successfully perform any cosmetic procedure. For high-risk procedures like butt lifts, having the expertise of a peer-reviewed, highly qualified professional is especially important. These individuals are highly trained to identify risks and treat them before they can compromise your surgical results and life.

Do Your Research

There is nothing wrong with vetting multiple plastic surgeons during the initial stages of your surgical journey. It is an incredibly important step in verifying that you have all the information necessary to choose the right procedure and practice. While looking for your plastic surgeon, be sure to ask about the risks, what you can expect from the surgery and recovery, and about the benefits of the butt lift. A good plastic surgeon will help you understand what realistic results will look like for your unique scenario.

Choose an Accredited Facility

While the Brazilian butt lifts may be marketed as an easy, minimally invasive way of achieving great curves, the procedure is still surgery that requires anesthesia. Choosing a facility that has a strong reputation for excellence and has the support staff in case something goes wrong will provide you with the peace of mind that you’re in safe hands at every step of the treatment process.
