Plastic Surgery Can Help You Achieve Your New Year’s Resolutions—Here’s How!

The beginning of the new year is a time for new beginning, resolutions to follow for the rest of the year, and a time to focus on becoming the best version of yourself. Whether you want to reverse the hands of time by smoothing out wrinkles or work on having a body that makes you feel sexy and confident when you gaze in the mirror, the new year is a fantastic time to start working towards these goals. While hard work, consistency, and discipline can get you far on your road to success, plastic surgery may accelerate your progress and help you reach your goals faster.

At Dr. Tim Sayed’s beautiful boutique, he practices state-of-the-art cosmetic surgeries and assists his patients with a wide range of aesthetic needs. From plastic surgery procedures, skin care, nonsurgical treatments, and more, Dr. Sayed can help you reach your New Year’s goals. Here are a few ways how:

Rejuvenate Your Face

Plastic surgery can help rewind time by repositioning the skin back to its youthful placement on the face. If smoothing out lines and wrinkles is on your New Year’s resolution list, injectable treatments such as Botox® or Dermal Fillers can make drooping, sallow features look vibrant and fresh again. It can be really discouraging not to look as young as you feel, especially when it comes to facial features because we constantly express emotions and communicate with others. Don’t go into another year feeling self-conscious about the lines and creases on your face. Put your best face forward in the New Year with one of these nonsurgical treatments!

Boost Your Body Confidence

If your New Year’s resolution is to finally have the body of your dreams, but you’re not getting the results you want with diet and exercise alone, body contouring procedures can help boost your body confidence for years to come. Body procedures like:

Liposuction is a popular procedure because of its ability to reduce excessive fat in troublesome body locations and improve the contour and shape of the body. While not meant as an alternate to weight loss, liposuction makes a great companion to an active diet and exercise plan to improve your physique.

Brazilian Butt Lift is the procedure to pursue if you want to skip hours spent in the gym doing hundreds of squats that do little but strain your knees and inhibit you from walking the next day. Dr. Sayed offers two techniques when it comes to a Brazilian Butt Lift: gluteal implants and fat transfer, which uses fat harvested from a secondary location on your body to shape and define your buttocks.

The Tummy Tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, is a great procedure for those who have recently lost a significant amount of weight or have had a baby and are now experiencing loose, sagging skin on the abdomen. A tummy tuck can help condition, tone, and flatten the abdomen so you can really reap the rewards of your hard work.

To learn more about these procedures to help you reach your New Year’s resolution goals, don’t hesitate to call Dr. Tim Sayed at (858) 247-2933 or contact us through our convenient website to schedule your personalized consultation with Dr. Sayed today!

What Is Included in a Mommy Makeover?

Childbirth is a miracle. Bringing new life into the world is a moment for rejoicing and celebration. However, there is no denying the stress that pregnancy, childbirth, and nursing have on your body.

Fortunately, plastic surgeons like Tim Sayed MD, of La Jolla, CA, can help cosmetically improve some of the changes that occur with childbearing with a comprehensive set of procedures called a mommy makeover.

Here, Dr. Sayed takes you through what procedures a mommy makeover can include and how these can help restore your pre-childbirth physique. Most of the same approaches are available for any patient who is a good surgical candidate for cosmetic contouring of the tummy and breasts, whether from weight changes, aging, or other factors. In other words, Mommy Makeovers are not just for mommies!

What Happens During Pregnancy, Childbirth, and Nursing?

To improve some of the body changes that occur after pregnancy, we first must identify what changes occur in your body during the process.

One of the first changes is the swelling of the lower abdomen, where the child develops in your uterus. For many women, the strain of carrying a growing baby can lead to a separation of the lower abdominal wall. This phenomenon leads to a weaker lower abdomen, with reduced structural support to the spine and internal organs.

The breasts enlarge with the arrival of milk, which can cause stretch marks and take away the firm, round breasts of youth. Nursing further impacts the breasts’ appearance.

During childbirth, the birth canal and vagina stretch permanently. Women have several choices to address each of these physical changes. What are some procedures you might wish to include in your mommy makeover?

Tummy Tuck

The tummy tuck is a staple procedure in a mommy makeover. This procedure treats the extended and stretched skin of the lower abdomen while reinforcing the abdominal wall, addressing any structural issues that arose during the pregnancy.

Liposuction

Liposuction is also a standard mommy makeover procedure that touches up the abdomen and helps new moms get back to the smooth, flat stomach they enjoyed before becoming a mommy.

Breast Lift

Most mothers decide to get a breast lift in their mommy makeover to counteract the drooping and stretching that occurred during pregnancy and nursing.

Vaginal Rejuvenation

Vaginal rejuvenation is one of the less-talked-about mommy makeover procedures, but it shouldn’t be. Being happy and confident in your appearance can go a long way toward having an active and healthy sex life, and vaginal rejuvenation after childbirth helps fix many issues later down the road. Labiaplasty is a procedure commonly performed to improve the outward aesthetic appearance of this area, and can have significant impact on a woman’s confidence in her intimate life.

How Many Areas Can I Have Liposuction on at One Time?

Liposuction is among the most popular cosmetic body contouring procedures available to both men and women who desire a toned appearance. Unless you’re genetically blessed and disciplined enough to stick to a rigorous exercise routine and follow a healthy diet, chances are you have some stubborn fat pockets, especially if you’ve had multiple pregnancies or lost a lot of weight. These could extend across your abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks, flanks, back, below your chin, and chest, and make you feel self-conscious.

Liposuction can be an effective procedure at reducing your trouble spots. You may be wondering if you could have multiple areas of the body treated during a single visit to Dr. Tim Sayed at his state-of-the-art cosmetic surgery practice in San Diego, CA. Keep reading. What you find out might surprise you!

How Much Fat Can You Have Removed?

Deciding whether he can safely administer liposuction across several areas in one procedure requires Dr. Sayed to consider multiple factors. Perhaps the most crucial of these is the amount of fat he can safely remove at once.

It’s worth remembering that, when talking about liposuction, we don’t measure fat in pounds, but in volume – typically cubic centimeters or liters. For your safety, the upper limit of fat Dr. Sayed can remove during liposuction surgery is five liters (or five quarts) of fat during a single outpatient visit. If you require more than this amount, Dr. Sayed might recommend breaking down the procedure into multiple stages and sessions.

With liposuction, your goal should always be fat removal as part of a body contouring procedure and not to help you lose weight.

Since Dr. Sayed customizes liposuction on a patient-by-patient basis, the actual limit to the number of areas he can treat in one visit depends on several factors, including:

  • Desired amount of fat removal.
  • Your physical size and anatomy.
  • Location of each targeted area.
  • Your unique needs and goals.
  • How close you are to your ideal goal weight.

If you’re contemplating liposuction for one or many areas, Dr. Sayed, an expert in this body contouring technique, would be happy to create a safe and effective treatment plan to satisfy your specific cosmetic goals.

Fat in One Region

If you want to have fat removed from parts of the body that are close to each other, such as the thighs, hips, and buttocks, it may be possible to treat these areas during a single outpatient visit.

Fat in Multiple Regions

Unfortunately, for some people, stubborn body fat doesn’t always accumulate in only one area of the body. Having multiple problem areas may prompt you to inquire about how many areas a single liposuction outpatient visit can help you address.

As you’ll discover during your consultation with Dr. Sayed, the amount of fatty tissue he can remove depends on your anatomy and the size and number of areas you want to address. For example, a relatively small person may be able to have all their desired regions addressed during a single liposuction session. However, someone with a larger build might require multiple treatments over several visits to safely extract the necessary amount of fat.

If your desired fat removal is greater than the amount appropriate for your body, or if the procedure will take longer than the time deemed safe while under general anesthesia, Dr. Sayed typically recommends staged procedures.

Remember, the more areas of the body you opt to target with liposuction, the more discomfort and swelling you will experience after surgery. Once Dr. Sayed has completed the liposuction procedure, he will apply a compression garment to limit swelling in these areas.

Since fat removal with liposuction is such a personalized procedure, Dr. Sayed will determine the number of sessions necessary to treat all desired areas after talking with you about your unique goals and any aspects of your health history that might lead to complications with healing.

Should You Add Liposuction to Your Tummy Tuck?

Each year, plastic surgeons in the U.S. perform over 130,000 tummy tucks, making it one of the five most popular cosmetic procedures. Because the tummy tuck can fix cosmetic and medical concerns, it’s no wonder that it is such a sought-after cosmetic procedure.

For patients with an excessive amount of extra, loose skin surrounding their abdomen, the tummy tuck can remove this skin and provide a tighter, more aesthetically pleasing waistline. The procedure also tightens stretched abdominal muscles, which increases the structural support to the abdominal organs and spine. This improves posture, relieves back pain, and reduces other medical complications like hernias.

At his gold-standard plastic surgery practice in Newport Beach and La Jolla, CA, Dr. Tim Sayed is often asked how tummy tuck results can be further improved.

One way to dramatically improve the results from a tummy tuck is by combining the procedure with liposuction. Here, Dr. Sayed discusses the different motivations patients have for undergoing a tummy tuck and how liposuction can be a beneficial addition to the operation.

Why Do Patients Choose a Tummy Tuck?

A tummy tuck is performed either out of choice, to improve the abdomen’s aesthetic appearance, or out of necessity to solve medical complications caused by excess skin and tissue.

Aesthetic Tummy Tuck

Most tummy tuck patients choose the procedure for aesthetic reasons. After pregnancy or significant weight loss, the skin surrounding the lower abdomen can become stretched, loose, and unsightly, which motivates patients towards a tummy tuck. (In fact, two of the fundamental procedure in a mommy-makeover are the tummy tuck and liposuction!).

Combining liposuction in the right patient can help enhance the waistline, improve the flatness of the abdomen, reduce extra bulges around the flanks, and add definition to the skin surface, in some cases simulating a more fit-appearing, muscular abdomen. For some patients, getting high-definition liposuction will further improve the results.

Liposuction in certain zones of the abdomen must be done with caution, especially if patients with higher body mass index (BMI) and in the upper central area, due to blood supply and wound healing precautions.

How Liposuction Kickstarts Your 2020 Diet & Exercise Resolutions

As the ball dropped on Dec. 31, millions of people around the world resolved to get fit and trim by the end of 2020. However, only a select few will see real results come 2021. The vast majority of people, no matter what kind of resolution they made (financial, educational, or physical), will give up within the first few months of the year.

Even if you do stay committed to regular exercise and a healthy diet, often, that won’t be enough to see the results you want. Fat is stubborn and incredibly hard to target on your own, especially in trouble areas like the thighs, back, abdomen, and love handles. So, what can you do to make your dream body a reality this year? We can help. With cutting-edge technology in the hands of Dr. Sayed, an expert board-certified surgeon, 2020 could be the year you look your best yet.

One of the most powerful tools we have to support your fitness, diet, and exercise goals is liposuction. This hugely popular procedure is the second most commonly completed cosmetic surgery (behind breast augmentation) in the world and for good reason. Dr. Sayed can precisely target pockets of unwanted fat and get rid of them in a single visit to our office. Don’t get stuck waiting on results to show up – make them a reality this year.

Why Resolutions Don’t Stick

What makes resolutions so hard to keep up with? The answer, according to Psychology Today, lies in behavioral science and our genetic code. A process called homeostasis governs humans. In short, when we expend energy, we need to rest to regain it. This process regulates everything from hunger to emotional investment, and most certainly, sticking to our goals.

Resolutions – which often don’t offer any instant gratification and usually involve changing habits – are especially exhausting. It makes perfect sense, then, that after even a few weeks of maintaining your new lifestyle, you’ll reach a point where you either fully commit, quit, or adjust your goals.

How can we help you prepare for that moment? Our entire team is here to help. We take on a personalized, holistic approach with each patient and love to become part of our clients’ support networks. For those who want trimmer bodies, body-sculpting procedures like liposuction can be an excellent way for us to help kickstart your fitness journey. You’ll see an immediate reduction in fat volume, and begin to look and feel your very best.

Liposuction is a commitment to the life you want to live. Once you’ve booked and completed your procedure, it will be all that much easier to motivate yourself to get and keep a body you love, rather than working toward slimming down in a body that lowers your confidence and may not even feel like you.

Liposuction’s Groundbreaking Technology: A Perfect Add-On to Diet and Exercise

Lipo has become the cornerstone of almost every common body contouring procedure, like Brazilian butt liftinghi-def abdominal liposculpture, and cosmetic and reconstructive fat grafting. Though it’s not a weight-loss surgery, liposuction can help you get rid of those last pockets of fat that don’t want to go away.

During the procedure, Dr. Sayed removes fat first by placing a cocktail of fluid medication into the fatty layer of the body. Alongside saline solution, these medications prep the tissue for safe and easy removal, lowering bleeding risk and providing anesthetic to reduce postop discomfort. Some patients may also require the use of devices like ultrasound (we like the Vaser brand) or lasers, which use targeted energy to help break up your fat cells and tighten the skin for a smoother result.

Liposuction is incredibly versatile, enabling Dr. Sayed to perform it in combination with cosmetic surgery in other areas of the body, including the facebreast, and alongside faceliftstummy tucksbreast lifts, and breast augmentationbreast reductionsBrachioplasties (arm lifts)thigh lifts, and other procedures.

Liposuction Differences in Men vs. Women

It’s no wonder why liposuction is one of the top requested procedures for men and women. But did you know that the procedure affects each patient differently? Here are just a few differences that can require different approaches for men and women.

Different goals for different patients

While the liposuction procedure is the same for both men and women, the reasons behind why each patient pursues treatment can vary.

For starters, where men and women carry their fat varies tremendously. Women tend to carry more fat on their bodies, which tends to be stored around the hips and thighs, or the gluteal-femoral area. This part of the body tends to be difficult to target with diet and exercise. In contrast, men carry fat around their midsection – think the stereotypical “beer gut”.

This difference is where excess fat is stored changes the goals for each patient. Since fat around the stomach is often easier to lose than fat in the gluteal-femoral area, liposuction isn’t used to remove fat so much as add definition. As a result, when men visit Dr. Sayed’s offices in Newport Beach or La Jolla, most use liposuction to improve muscle definition and create a more masculine figure.

On the flip side, women find liposuction to be the ideal way to remove excess fat cells from the areas they accumulate. In addition to recontouring stubborn pockets of fat, liposuction is an excellent way for women to regain a more feminine figure. At Sr. Sayed’s practice, we find that many women use liposuction in tandem with other cosmetic procedures, such as Brazilian Butt Lifts or fat transfer to help reshape their entire body in one comprehensive procedure. These combination treatments are especially popular post-baby or following substantial weight loss.

Physical differences in fat composition

Aesthetic goals aren’t the only differences in liposuction treatment between men and women. Fat cell composition and accumulation below the skin also require different approaches. For example, fat cells in men tend to be thicker, more fibrous and stick close together to create a layer right above the muscle. The way in which fat cells develop, accumulate and expand so closely to the muscle tissue make removal a challenge – even with highly-targeted liposuction.

Women don’t face this issue. Instead, women are genetically designed to carry more fat healthily (nature’s answer to helping nourish babies in the womb). This causes fat cells to develop subcutaneously, making them easier to remove with liposuction. This placement of fat changes the way our experienced plastic surgeon targets fat cells and pockets during the procedure and ensures the best results.

Your Guide to Liposuction for Men

In recent years, the taboos surrounding plastic surgery have diminished. Treatments previously considered very feminine such as dermal fillers and Botox® are now finding their way to the top of most requested procedures for men. In addition to these minimally invasive options, liposuction is quickly gaining popularity among male patients.

If you’re one of the countless men with plans to look your best this year, consider this your guide to liposuction.

What is liposuction?

Liposuction is among the most popular cosmetic body contouring procedures available among both men and women. Unlike other body sculpting procedures that can require invasive surgery and muscle readjustments, liposuction is conducted through strategically placed entry points around the area of concern.

During the procedure, a mixture of medications is administered to the excess fat tissue to help numb and loosen fat cells. Ultra-thin needles called cannulas are then used to gently disrupt and remove unwanted fat cells from the body. The results of treatment leave patients with a more defined figure.

Who is a candidate?

Another important advantage of liposuction is how adaptable the treatment can be. As we age, excess fat can stubbornly become attached to certain parts of the body. While women may see accumulation around the hips and buttocks, men tend to see extra fat pocket around the abdomen, below the chin, jowls and breast.

Liposuction is a great option for finally saying goodbye to unwanted fat pockets that can develop over time and seem resistant to strict diet and exercise. As the treatment removes fat rather than weight loss, many men find the treatment results last longer when they’ve already reached and maintained their goal weight.

What to expect during treatment and recovery

While liposuction is still a form of cosmetic surgery, the procedure itself is minimally invasive compared to other body shaping procedures. In most cases, the procedure is an outpatient treatment in which patients go home soon after their procedure is over. During the recovery period, patients do need to wear special compression garments to help mitigate post-operative swelling and help loose skin tighten back up. Usually, these garments are worn for around three months under clothing, making them a discreet addition to daily outfits.

Going further with liposculpture

Some patients don’t just want to streamline their physique – they want to add definition to their figure as well. Hi-def liposculpture is a popular option for men looking to enhance their musculature.

Like traditional liposuction, liposculpture removes fat cells from the body. However, this treatment is unique in several ways. For starters, hi-def liposculpture uses radiofrequency waves to gently loosen and remove the unwanted fat cell. Additionally, while liposuction targets fat cells all over the body, liposculpture focuses on the grooves of the abdominal muscles, creating the ultra-toned appearance many patients are looking for.

If your goals are simply to smooth or hone in on musculature and tone your body, both liposuction and liposculpture treatments offer men the chance to look and feel confident. Communicating your treatment goals to an experienced surgeon can help ensure that you achieve your dream figure.

Get Ready to Say I Do with These Treatments and Procedures

bridal pre-wedding cosmetic procedures

Now that spring is here; wedding season is just around the corner. With countless brides and grooms preparing their dream wedding, thinking about your self-care and looks can quickly fall to the wayside. Rather than waiting until the last minute, consider adding these treatments and procedures into your wedding prep plans and feel confident when you walk down the aisle.

Cosmetic Treatments

Preparing for your wedding day is a stressful experience. Late nights pulling together guests lists and the emotional toll of dealing with relatives can quickly take a toll on any one’s appearance. The last things you need to be worrying about are new wrinkles or dull-looking skin in photos on your big day. Instead, consider adding these minimally-invasive, non-surgical treatments to your pre-wedding regimen and enjoy your special day worry free.

Botox®

While Botox® is often associated with anti-aging skincare routines, this injectable can be a valuable addition for patients at any age. The treatment temporarily paralyzes muscle-caused wrinkles from deepening and helps smooth existing wrinkles and fine lines across the patient’s face. When applied as a preventive treatment against aging, Botox® can even help slow down the overall aging process, helping the patient enjoy smoother skin longer.

Fillers

Dermal fillers are another popular pre-wedding treatment, particularly for women looking to add a little more volume to their appearance before they head down the aisle. For some, this may mean adding a small amount of filler to lips to create the perfect pout, while others may choose to use dermal fillers to lift sagging cheeks and fill in hollows.

Surgical Solutions

Have more time to prepare for your big day? For many brides and grooms, an upcoming wedding day can be a huge motivator to finally shed stubborn weight and make much-needed changes to their diet and exercise habits. After working hard in the gym and reaching your goal weight, some patients may opt for surgical procedures that showcase their efforts and help them finally reach their ideal body shape.

Some of the most popular pre-wedding minimally-invasive surgical procedures fall under the category of “body sculpting” – treatments that help patients add definition to their figures and gain extra confidence in their figure. These include:

Brazilian Butt Lift:

One of the most popular procedures available, Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBLs) use fat tissue from other parts of your body and add it to your rear, adding an extra lift to sagging behinds. Less invasive than traditional butt implants, BBLs are an excellent option for enhancing curves and redistributing unwanted fat cells elsewhere on your body.

Liposuction

Another popular plastic surgery procedure, liposuction allows patients to remove stubborn fat cells permanently. As the procedure uses an extremely small cannula to remove excess fat cells, the entire treatment is minimally invasive, shrinking down recovery time for patients.

Hi-Def Liposculpture

For some, pre-wedding preparation includes adding definition and sculpting the perfect body. Where liposuction helps smooth out unwanted lumps, hi-def liposculpture uses a combination of ultrasonic vibrations and liposuction to remove fat covering muscle groups and add much-desired definition. Generally recommended for individuals who are already in excellent shape, this procedure is especially popular among men who want to highlight their hard work in the gym and look their absolute best before heading down the aisle and off on their honeymoon.

Reach Your 2019 Goals with Liposuction

Have you started crafting your 2019 goals? For many, the first few weeks of January are often a time for reflection as well as looking ahead to goals for the remainder of the year. While some may choose to pursue professional goals, others are looking to 2019 to be the year they finally achieve the perfectly sculpted body of their dreams. If that sounds like a familiar goal for you, what better way to reach this long-term goal than with liposuction?

Why Liposuction Should Be Part of Your Sculpting Strategy

There’s more than one reason why liposuction is among the most popular cosmetic surgeries in the United States. Consider just these few:

Honing the Perfect Body Takes Work

Unless you’re blessed with perfect genes and time to spend hours upon hours in the gym, chances are you have some stubborn fat pockets across your body. Furthermore, following vigorous workout routine and strict diet doesn’t always mean total fat removal. Unlike other cells, fat cells are never truly eliminated from the body unless physically removed. Instead, excess fat cells shrink, expand, and multiply in relation to weight loss and weight gain. As a result, in order to truly achieve a toned, sculpted physique, you’ll need a treatment that removes this unwanted fat.

While there are numerous body sculpting procedures available, liposuction is the only minimally invasive, long-lasting treatment that removes fat cells permanently while providing near immediate results. For individuals who have worked hard to achieve their best figure through diet and exercise, liposuction is the ideal “final touch.”

Liposuction is Highly Versatile

While many associate liposuction with flatter, more sculpted tummies, the procedure is among the most versatile plastic surgeries currently available. At Tim Sayed MD Plastic Surgery, liposuction has been used by both men and women to target stubborn fat pouches around the stomach, legs, arms, and back. Our San Diego and Newport Beach plastic surgeon has even used liposuction to remove unflattering submental fat, or double chins, leaving patients feeling confident in their appearance from the neck up. So long as patients are healthy enough to undergo surgery and are not using the procedure as a weight loss alternative, nearly all individuals can be eligible for liposuction.

With so many opportunities and treatment areas available, the consultation of every liposuction appointment is very important. During your visit, you’ll work with Dr. Sayed to discuss your treatment goals and identify how liposuction can help you reach those objectives. For patients who are thinking of more extensive, full body makeovers, our team will work with you to ensure your liposuction treatment works with the rest of your goals.

The Plastic Surgery Procedure Yields Long-Lasting Results

Not all body-sculpting procedures are the same. Although there are many non-surgical solutions available for fat removal, achieving lasting results in a timely fashion can be difficult. Liposuction’s minimally invasive nature and use of a thin cannula make the treatment a much less invasive option compared to traditional surgery and yields better, longer lasting results than non-surgical treatments. When you maintain a healthy diet and regular exercise before and after surgery, many can enjoy long-lasting results.
